Building Design Newbie - Ready to help

By Tom Ackerman posted 22-02-2024 12:47

Dear BDAA legends,

I am a motivated self-starter with skills in architectural drafting and visualisation based in the Sutherland Shire, NSW. I completed a Diploma of Building Design at TAFE to distinction level last year and I am seeking casual work/work experience within the industry. I can use ArchiCAD, Revit and AutoCAD for drafting. Here is a link to my recent portfolio:

My practical experience includes a short stint with Architectural firm Shobha Designs on residential projects ranging from multi-storey apartments to granny flats. I also have experience with building design firms Manche Designs (David Manche) and Plan Source (Michael Sandel) on residential and commercial projects. During these roles I have developed skills such as carrying out site measure-ups, interpreting architect’s drawings and drafting details. My practical experience also includes one year as a junior AutoCAD drafter at the esteemed international engineering firm, Arup.

I have my own ABN, car and a laptop and I’m willing to travel around the Sydney area or work remotely. Any tips or recommendations for finding work in this field would be hugely appreciated.

All the best,

Tom Ackerman.
